Inspiron 1564 screen is stretched.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 1564 3 months ago to replace my Inspiron 1501 that crashed. I recently received a new hard drive from Dell because my Inspiron 1564 hard drive had failed. Upon receiving my new hard drive, I installed it following the instructions given to me from a dell tech agent to a T.Ever since installing the new hard drive the screen is all stretched and all the icons are much bigger than they should be.My photos are all stretched out and look bad.I inquired with dell and had a tech agent actually try and troubleshoot the issue, the screen resolution is what it should be but the bios is out of date it's A01.My laptop didn't have any issues before receiving the new hard drive besides the first hard drive failing. Also, another issue is when I am typing on the keyboard the blinking typing cursor randomly goes into a previous sentence and starts typing which is rather annoying.Dell told me I would need to send this laptop to them for them to troubleshoot because he thinks it an issue with the mainboard(motherboard). Before doing that, I wanted to see if anybody had any resolutions for my stretched out screen? I never had any issues with the mainboard before, just after installing the new hard drive which was done correctly, these problems arise.
I understand I most likely will have to send this laptop to Dell for them to fix but I just wanted to look into any other possible solution before doing so.I use my computer for business and it is an inconvenience to have to send it back and not have it for up to two weeks but if I cannot resolve the problem myself I will happily send it in for repair.I just don't understand why this problem arises when they send me the new HD and why did they send me a new HD that's BIOS is way out of date.It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks!

Make sure you have the latest video driver. Then go to the video control panel and select the native screen resolution for your LCD. Any resolution other than thje correct native resolution will give distortion.
For the jumping cursor, the touchpad control panel should have some way to adjust the sensitivity or disable the touchpad when you are typing. A too sensitive touchpad will do this. Another solution is to download and rub the free program TOUCHFREEZE. This program disables the touchpad when typing. It is about 99.5% effectiove - pretty good.
