Inspiron 8600 Heat

I just received my new Inspiron 8600. I love everything about it except the heat. I feel that there is too much heat on left side of the mouse pad area. As a result, my left palm hand is feeling so warm when I am typing. Is this normal situation for Inspiron 8600? It bothers me alot.

Thanks,
Frank

you can run some diagnostics . start with the fans to see if they are working ok. verify also that you have the latest BIOS version.

I have an I8600 and my palm rest is not that hot.  Under the left palm rest is the hard drive.  Which drive do you have?  I have the 7K60 in it and it runs pretty cool.  If you do run the diagnostics, you might try running them on the hard drive too.

What kind of applications are you running?  Are they disk acessing intensive?  Is your palm rest hot all the time or just during heavy use?

To use the diagnostic tools, hit the F12 key when you see the Dell splash screen.  Then select to run diagnostics.

When you touch the left side of the palm rest, is it just a little warm?  If this is the case, this is normal.
Is it so hot that you can not touch it?  This is not normal.  (I know you already knew this).

By the way, my hard drive is Toshiba MK4026GAX. I used my laptop for regular use. After 15 minutes, my left palm is feeling the heat from the cover.

Thanks again,

Frank
