Intel graphics drivers
I tried to install the latest intel graphics drivers today and got an error message saying my computer is not validated to install them. I have checked and they were the correct drivers for the correct os, are dell actually restricting what drivers I can put on or is there something I haven't realised here.
The latest intel drivers are much newer and I was hoping they would give a boost (a friend with the same graphics is getting better performence with them than the drivers I am using). Anyone know about this, or is it a fault?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,
Welcome to the Community. Please mention your system model, and operating system when posting on the forum, this will make it easy for the forum to answer your question. Have you tried uninstalling the video driver and then installing it from the support site. To uninstall, click on start, right click on computer, click on properties, click on device manager, click on the symbol next to symbol next to display, right click on the Intel video driver, and click on uninstall and confirm it. Once its removed update it with the new drivers from the support site.
Hope this helps,
Thank you
Royan

Hi Royan,
I have the same question. Intel is permitting me to download the latest drivers, but I want to make sure they are compatible with my Dell. I guess the question is, "Can I use Intel's latest drivers?", or must I use Dell's drivers.
Dell Inspiron N7110 with Windows 7.
Dell 09G8VY motherboard, with Intel Core i7-2670Qm CPU.
NVidia GeForce GT 525M, driver version 8.17.12.6830, 4-21-2011
Intel HD Graphics, driver version 8.15.10.2455, 7-19-2011
Thanks,
Scott

You can try the Intel drivers, and they may work correctly. Please understand though that Dell hasn't always tested the drivers to verify if they are fully functional so we can't promise you that they will work. No you don't have to always use the Dell drivers, if you decide to use other drivers please create a restore point before installing the driver so if there is a problem you can easily restore the system to before the driver was installed. For more on system restore please check out the following link.
