M1330 screen resolution changing

Hey all, I have a question will our 1330 and its screen resolution.

I know the LCD has a native resolution 1280 x 800, or something close to that. I have set it at resolution more than once. Both via control panel and the Intel control panel. Still on reboot the notebook will change it back to 1024 X 768.....

So what am I missing?

Hi, I also have an M1330 (Vista Ultimate).  Whenever the laptop is not in use, I usually just close the lid and leave it plugged in.  I have noticed that about 80% of the time when I re-open the lid and start to use it again, the resolution has changed from 1280x764 back to 1024x640 (I can't remember the exact numbers).  I always have to go into the display settings and set the resolution back up to 1280.

This is slightly maddening, and I haven't figured out how to get the resolution to stick.  Anyone have any ideas?

In 95% of all cases it is due to users not having an up to date display driver installed.

For the X3100 integrated Graphics the current version is v15.7.3 dated 01/10/2008:

I do not have the corresponding GeForce 8400M driver at hand.

I downloaded that and took a chance running it.  I get a message that it is not approved for my computer and the install is denied. I have a XPS1330 with the XM3100

The actual culprit is TMM, Vista's process that looks for multiple monitors and attempts to intelligently modify resolution. If you aren't using multiple monitors, you can disable TMM:

1. right-click on 'computer' and select 'manage'
2. on the left pane, expand 'task scheduler' then ' task scheduler library' then 'Microsoft' then 'Windows' then 'MobilePC'
3. select TMM in the center pane, then on the right pane, choose 'disable'
