Memory Speed on XPS M1330
I bought a refurbished XPS M1130 system. It was listed as having 4 GB of 800Mhz DDR2.
When I access the Bios (hit F2 on Dell Splash screen) and go into Systems, Memory Info. It displays:
Memory Installed = 4096 MB
Memory Available = 4086 MB
Memory Speed = 667 MHZ
I opened up the laptop to check the tags on the ram chip. Each ram chip (2 pieces) reads 2GB 2RX8 PC2-6400S.
Should the Memory speed display "Memory Speed = 800 MHZ" in the Bios?
I called Dell they shipped 2 pcs of ram with tags marked PC2-6400S. I installed them.
Memory speed stills displays a 667MHZ.
Any thought? Thanks

The chipset in the M1330 (there is no M1130) runs RAM at 667 MHz, max - 800 MHz RAM will simply downclock, as you have seen.

Sigh...you are correct ejn63. I had to talk to tech support on the phone, chat online, then call tech support again to finally confirm that the chipset supports up to 667MHz..
Kinda misleading to consumers by selling 800 MHz RAM only to have the system to downclock it. Thx ejn63!
