Operating System Not Found Inspiron 2650

When starting up the Inspiron 2650, I get the message "Operating System Not Found" and the BIOS shows "none" for the hard drive.  If I let it warm up for a half hour, and then restart the computer, it will start after several attempts.  Their are no errors after this for the remainder of the day. But the next day I have to let the laptop warm up again before it will start. In some message boards I have searched, they suggested removing the hard drive and reinstalling, but this does not work.  I do have the latest BIOS installed, is the hard drive bad? or motherboard?

Contact Dell Support and they can continue troubleshooting it with you and replace what is needed..... if you have a warranty.

It definately sounds as if the connection between the hard drive and the motherboard is not a good one.  reseatting the hard drive should take care of this.  But you say that you have already done this.

Once you get the computer running, I would suggest running Dell's diagnostics on your hard drive.

The same thing happened to me and when I called tech support I was told it is a common problem with the Inspiron 2650's. The tech told me the hard drive was faulty & needed to be replaced. I was sent a new hard drive and haven't had the problem since.

You should call them back referring to the same case and tell them it's still happening after the previous attempt. If they dont replace anything, ask to speak with escalations.
