Overclocking ATI Radeon Mobility X300 (M22 5460) 64MB

I've been playing around with Omega's 3.8.205 display drivers for my ATI Radeon Mobility X300 (M22 5460) 64MB video card on my Dell Inspiron 6000D notebook and I've made a few mistakes in overclocking this card, which mostly caused my system to crash, no biggie though. Ever since, I've been looking around on google to find the max core speed and max memory speed. I did find some place that stated that my card in the 128MB version supports a core clock speed of 350MHz and memory speed of 300MHz. My question; is there a difference such as what the card supports in certain speeds just because the size of the memory is different? Also, if anyone has overclocked this card please let me know what you have maxed out at before your games crash? And on a little side note, it's totally worth overclocking your card! I gained 30fps in Call of Duty 2 at the recommended core clock speed of 350MHz and memory speed of 300MHz!

I guess no one knows about this card...Anyway, I've been experimenting and finally found the maximum core clock speed and the maximum memory speed, which are 375MHz and 330MHz respectfully. I've been running my games on these settings and it hasn't crashed yet.

Hello there,

I have the 128MB version of the card on my I6000 and I am thinking of overclock my card as well.  My question is, did the overclocking cause any additional heats from the system?  Is the onboard cooling up to the task?

Thanks for any info.

I believe that the onboard cooling is able to handle the overclocking. I did notice some additional heat from the system and it seems like the fan comes on sooner when overclocking. I've played Day of Defeat: Source for four hours once before and the system handled it fine at 351:300.

hey, i have overclocked my x300 and gained great performance too. you might want to chech out ATI Tray Tools to overclock. I actually overclock to a core speed of 400 and a memory speed of 300 and I don't have any problems.

Since you have the 128MB version you may be able to overclock the core speed at 400MHz but on my computer when I overclock my x300 64MB card at that speed my games will crash.

Ah, very true. My mistake. Happy overclocking!
