Power adapters - PA10 vs PA12

Does anytbody know if the PA10 and PA12 power adapters are interchangable.  I have a D600 with a PA10 and a friend has one that came with a PA12.  Thanks.

The PA10 is a 90W power supply, the PA12 is a 65W power supply. You can use either with the D600.

A PA10 power supply must be used if you are using a D/Port port replicator.

One observation (Dell may disagree and I could be wrong): It appears that if the computer is off a PA10 and a PA12 will charge the battery at the same rate, if the computer is on the PA12 charges the battery slowly.

Thanks for the quick response.  Do you know if the PA12 can be used on a Inspiron 8500?
