Power button does not work on Inspiron 8600

I purchased the Inspirion 8600 from the outlet center last June. Yesterday I noticed that the volume controls on the top of the keyboard, did not work. This morning, I could not turn on the laptop by pressing the power button (located next to the volume control buttons). I finally applied pressure to the area next to the power button and pressed the power button button. The laptop came on. Is the laptop still under warranty? If not, can the cover be removed so that I can inspect the area near the volume / power button? Is there a connector in that area that may be loose? I am afraid of turning off the laptop and not being able to turn it back on. Thank you.

I meet the same problem recently! I cannot turn on my computer (8600). After I press the power button, the green light of power is on. After a while the green light is off. Nothing happen!

I contacted Dell support by email. They told me to follow a procedure that they sent me. They had me remove the center control cover (volume, mute and power buttons) - very easy - just a flat blade screwdriver. The ribbon cable connector on the right hand side - was apparently very loose and it was out of the corresponding connector without me having to do anything. I saw nothing wrong with the control cover, I reinstalled and and made sure the ribbon cable connector made a solid connection. My volume controls, mute and power buttons now work. I was told that if this happens again - they will send me a replacement control cover. I suspect that the ribbon cable connector had become dislodged.
