Sounds like the wifi card is missing. I believe it is located under a door on the bottom side. It is possible that the wires to it are not connected. Download the service manual for it for more accurate info. You are lucky you are not having MODEM problems, as you have to remove the mobo to get to it, as there is no access door to it.

Also make sure that your WIFI switch on the right hand side of the note book is ON and not OFF.

I have the same problem!

After I intalled the XP in portuguese, I can't install the wireless card. I already used the CD's, downloads drivers from the site, on BIOS the internal wifi is ON. The wi-fi catcher is setup to manager wifi and BT and it's ON.

The interesting is, in device manager of windows, appears a network device with exclamation (I think it is the wireless card) but the wifi led is turned off.

Help!!!

Sorry for bad english.

An exclamation point (!) in Device Manager for a device means that the drive is not working and most likely a driver issue. I see 10 driver files for Network for D430 on Dell Support website.

The wireless card is an Intel 3945.

The problem still...
