SD card host reader/driver dissapeared from Dell XPS 15
Hi
Does anyone have a solution to the problem with Windows 7 and SD Card readers? My XPS 15 came with a internal SD card reader. It worked fine the first time and I could copy my photo's to my harddrive. Now when I insert the card in the slot, windows does not even recognise it or pick it up. I can't access the card. I have not tried it with the usb cable that came with my camera yet (don't have it with me as I'm on holiday). Any suggestions?

I've got exactly the same problem with a SDHC card. The reader should read SDXC which to my understanding means it should also read SDHC.

This seems to work okay now.
I reset the laptop, tried an older standard SD card, then the SD HC card and it worked.
Hope that's helpful.

Hi All. Thanks for your responses to my post. I have realised that the SD card I have been using with my camera is too "old" to work with my laptop's software. A newer card works just fine. The best option is to use the USB cable that came with the camera and download the pictures the old fashioned way.

Bought my XPS 15 ((L502x)) recently and also had a problem with SD card reader. I have 2 SDHC cards 2GB and 16GB and every time I insert them to the reader, I can see the "JMCR SD/MMC SCSI Disk Device" is loaded and that's it. I can't open and read from the cards. I uninstalled and then reinstalled drivers from DELL website, but no luck.
I then looked into Device Manager and there was no problem, however I noticed under "Store Device" there was an "unknown device" from the properties I could see that it was SD card reader. When I uninstalled it and scanned for new devices I got my SD card reader working.

Hello. Actually the link you gave does not exist. Just to copy an entry I've put on another dell page.
"I'm having the same problem. I've downloaded the CardReader_JMicron_W7_A01_TKH3F_ZPE.exe and also CardReader_JMicron_W7_A01_Setup-W68J2_ZPE.exe. Both of these hang when installing. I left the computer alone for over and hour and nothing happened. I know my card reader worked like a charm up till a few weeks ago. What's up? In the device manager, the SD card reader doesn't show up any more. No one has even bothered answering this question, which seems to have been an issue for 3 years."

I have the same problem. Card reader has disappeared from device manager. No card working what to do? Help please
