Upgrade Cpu on Studio 1557

Hi all,

i bought a Studio 1557 in 2009. It has i7-720 on socket PGA988 and 4gb ram 1333mhz.

now i am going to upgrade my laptop hardware. Can i change my first i7 generation with at least a second generation i5? do i need a bios update? They are the same socket.
The main reason is that 720 processor is too hot (45w) and it has low frequence, so it result slow for not heavy task.

thank you.

I find it,

i can't upgrade my processor because my socket G1(pga988a) can only host first generation i7. Second and third generation are hosted by socket G2(pga988b).

As far as I understood, the chipset Intel PM55 supports various 2nd Gen CPU's as e.g.:

Intel Core i7-620M (PGA988) CPU

Intel Core i5-560M (PGA988) CPU,

and those have internal Grafics and much less PowerConsumption.

I can't see why it should not work? Could some please explain?
