Vostro 1310 keyboard layout

I received my Vostro 1310 today and was perfectly happy with it... until... I started typing (I touch type) and some of the letters were wrong.

The bottom row of letters has been shifted to the right by one!

When I go to type a 'C' i get an 'X'.

My bottom row looks as follows:

SHIFT, /, Z, X, C

which is fine on a full size keyboard but on the 1310 this means it's not aligned.

All the pictures on the Dell's website and elsewhere show:

SHIFT, Z, X, C

Has anyone else noticed this??? What's going on?

Call dell and have them send out a replacement keyboard.  It will come with instructions on how to remove your keyboard and replace it with the new one.

DELL WILL NOT REPLACE THE KEYBOARD!

Just got off the line with a support representative who agreed with me that the keyboard layout was wrong.

However the customer care line is that this is the normal keyboard layout for the 1310 and 1510 despite all the pictures showing otherwise.

Do not buy a DELL 1310 or 1510 if you touch type.

I am furious at this. I really like this laptop apart from the fact that the keys are in the wrong place. This is not a QWERTY keyboard.

Silly work-around here until Dell are forced to fix this glaring oversight:

Prise the bottom row of keys off and move them all along one space to the left, then put the pipe/backslash key at the end of the row.  Then download and install RandyRants SharpKeys which allows you to remap keys at the OS level in Windows.

I have the same laptop [Replacing soon] and have had the same issue for a while. Got a new keyboard installed that didn't have "/" between "shift" and "z". Great laptop all around, most comfortable keyboard I've experienced though this was a pain for two weeks I tell ya.
