XPS L702X Battery Replacement

Bought a replacement batter (90whr) for my XPS L702x. It has all the Dell logos and markings on it and is physically compatible with the laptop.  The laptop will not recognize the battery.  What can I do to fix this?

First question:  was the original battery recognized?  If not, and the second one isn't, either, that suggests the problem is with the mainboard, not the battery.

If the original battery IS still recognized but the replacement is not, it suggests the second battery is faulty.
