I just received my iGo Everywhere 130 power adapter.  It is an AC/DC universal power supply designed for use with many devices, Laptops, cellphones, PDA's, Digital audio players, etc.  The Everywhere 130 is a 100watt, 130watt max charger.  It comes with the required tip for my XPS M1710.

The charger works just fine on 120 and 220 VAC.  It charges and operates just fine.  No indication that I am not using the Dell Power Adapter.

I have yet to try it on an Airplane, but I should get a chance next week flying from Kuwait to Washington DC.

Yes, yes I know about the 75watt max on the airline seat adapters, but the unit did come with the adapters.  We shall see.

I will report back when I can.  I hope this helps.

so what happened in the end?  were you able to charge your battery on the plane?

does the charger actually "charge" the battery, or just "hold" a charge?

thanks

Ok,

If I had the charger plugged in and turned on the computer, it would give a message telling me the adapter was not compatible and the computer would not turn on.  If I had the computer on and plugged the charger in, it would work and charge with the computer operating.

It worked the same way when plugged into the airline seat.  Maybe it was just me, but I don't think it charged as fast with the airline seat as compared to the wall outlet.

The trick would seem to not let the computer battery run out or run low.

I was flying a United Business class 777 from Washington Dulles to Kuwait.

I hope this helps.

so the charger would actually "charge" the laptop when plugged into a wall outlet at home,

as opposed to just maintaining whatever the current charge level was - for example, if your battery

gives you the low-battery warning, and you plug in the iGo, then the M1330 starts re-charging?

the trick being to turn on the computer first?

sounds wierd, but workable.

I don't know about the 1330, on my 1710, if the battery is low, the computer will not turn on.  I assume the graphics card or processor draws too much juice.

If the battery gets low and the computer won't turn on, I simply connect and charge for a while, then disconnect the charger and start the computer, then reconnect the charger.
