backslash key does not work on my keyboard

Question

please help! the backslash key does not work on my dell precision M6300 keyboard; it gives me a # when i press the backslash, have tried all the other keys but nothing seems to work, there was a similar problem with my ' key which i solved (this is the key) could you help me fix this ASAP! thanks!

Run the Dell diagnostics on the keyboard (F12 at powerup, choose Diagnostics from menu).  If the key fails, call Dell and they'll send a replacement keyboard.

could u please elaborate on what u mean by powerup? this is the keyboard in my laptop, would dell send a replacement for the whole laptop? thanks!

Press the power button, then F12.  A menu will appear - among the choices will be Diagnostics. Keyboards are customer-replaceable - they will send you a keyboard.
