The title to the spec sheet says it all:

"3M cache"

It has a 3meg cache.

yes, thank you EJN63.   I had found this before, but I cannot tell from the specs if it has L2 cache.  There isn't anything that I can recognize as such on the spec.  Would you translate for me?  I've tried searching intel for L2 Cache, as well as Dell.  Nothing appropriate comes up.

Thanks!

I have a software program that is not installing. The software requirements specify "L2 Cache: 512 KB but recommend Memory: 1 GB RAM (4 GB RAM for Windows 7 64-bit) L2 Cache: 1 MB".  It specifically specifies L2 cache of 512 or 1MB.

Knowing that the laptop has 3MB cache isn't specific enough for me to determine if the installation problem is lack of enough cache (it has the other memory requirements) or the software.  The error message I'm getting is "Not enough memory - installation unsuccessful".

I know that cache can be split between L1 (small for very frequently accessed info), L2 (medium sized for info that is frequently accessed) and L3 for stuff you want to keep in memory.  I don't know whether this laptop does L1,L2,L3 caches and if so, the size of L2 cache.  I understand that some systems do not split cache into L1/2/3.

Thanks again, EJN63.  I do appreciate the time and effort you've taken to answer my question!
