keyboard temperature is hot
right hand side of keyboard inspiron 5000 (brand new) gets HOT, up towards f10, f11, f12 and delete key area.
Normal?
Or something weird.
Thanks
Sharon

The term "hot" can be pretty hard to define. If you mean so hot that you can't hold your hand there, then NO, that's not normal or acceptable. I have an I7500 (very similar structurally to the I5000), and that area of the keyboard is definitely warmer than the rest of the keyboard. I presume this is because the cooling unit is located in this area. Even though the fan doesn't run continuously (or even often) the MB / case design is probably designed so that convection currents carry most heat in this direction. (There are two relatively large openings in the area, one on the right side of the case, and one on the back at the right-hand corner.)
I wouldn't call that area of the keyboard HOT, but I would call it WARMER (than the rest of the keyboard).
If you have any serious doubts, you should a) run the hardware diagnostics, and / or b) call Dell tech support.
Good luck!

Jim

If the ambient temperature is high, or the intake/outtake of the fan are partially blocked, then my computer gets VERY hot. Mostly it fine.

How is it possible that Dell Inspiron 600m designers placed the processor right under the user's left hand? I can't leave my computer on for longer than an hour or I'll nearly burn my left wrist. It's EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE and seriously affects work productivity.
If anyone knows how to solve this problem, short of returning the computer, please let me know!
