opening dsb files
I had to do a system recover and backed my files up in the emergency backup folders but I cannot open the dsb files. Help

Hopefully this will help you. I had the same problem and was able to access mine this way after pulling my hair out for 2-3 days: Control Panel, Appearance & Personalization, Folder Options, "View" tab, select "Show hidden files, folders & drives" , click "Apply" and viola! There they are!

Restoring from a Backup Using DataSafe Local Backup 2.0
To recover a backup from within Windows:
1 Click
then click
All Programs, click
Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 and click
Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0.
2 Click
Restore my files .
3 Select the type of restore you wish to perform from the following options:
4 Select the date of the backup you wish to restore from then click

5 Confirm your selections.
If you are restoring from a System Backup, you will be prompted to
your computer. If you are restoring from a Files & Folders Backup, you will be prompted to
.
To recover a backup if Windows is unable to load:
1 Turn on the computer and press the key when the Dell Logo appears.
2 From the Advanced Boot Options highlight Repair Your Computer with the arrow keys and press .
3 Click
and login to your administrator account on the computer. The administrator account is the account created the first time the computer was turned on.
4 Click Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options .
5 Dell DataSafe Local will load. To keep the files you created or changed since the backup, click
Preserve new or changed files before restoring to selected System Backup. If you choose to recover the system without keeping your data, click
Restore without preserving new or changed files.
Click Next > .
6 If you selected to preserve your data files in Step 5, read the information that appears regarding the files to be preserved, then click Next > . Otherwise, continue to Step 10.
7 Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 will scan for and display new files on your computer since the backup was created. Select the types of files you wish to preserve.
If you only wish to preserve one or more specific files, click
Advanced File and Folder Selection .
Browse to and select the specific files or folders you want to preserve.
Once you have made your selections, click Next > .
8 Select the location you wish to preserve the files to, then click Next > .
9 A summary screen will display your selections. Confirm your selections and click Next > to begin the file backup process. Your preserved files will be saved to the location you selected. Once complete, click Next > to continue to the system backup recovery.
10 To begin the recovery, click
Yes, continue then click Next > .
11 Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 will restore your computer to the previous backup. Click Restart once its completed to restart the computer.

so did I. I have no idea. It restores the folders but not the contents of the folder. Can anybody help??????

so did I. I tried to extract and only the folders are extracted. The content of the folders do not extract. Can anybody help????

Hi, a question .... After you've dobe that, do the files remain in the emergency folder? or are they places somehere else (because when I've tried the ones in the emergency folder remained unchanged ... :( )
