ram beyond max suggested?

I have the Inspiron 3520 with i3-2350M processor. I am currently using a single 8gb DDR3L stick in this machine that was originally bought for another laptop, but it seems fine. Would there be any issue with buying the matching stick and upgrading to 16gb? Are there known issues using low voltage ram in this machine instead of the stock? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The first stick was from Crucial, originally for another laptop, but seemed to work fine. I ordered and installed another to make a matching pair. Result- i am now rocking 16gb ram in my Dell Inspiron 3520. So far no noticeable difference, though i have yet to really tax it. One less bottleneck though, and that is the main thing i was after.

Hi billwx,

Thanks for posting.

While not recommended, it may work.  If you want to purchase guaranteed returnable memory, try crucial.com, so if it doesn't work, you could send it back.  http://dell.to/2pwmVH3
