system disable message

My Dell Inspiron 15 displays a blue screen and asks for a current password then after 3 attempts the screen error wording changes to "System Disable" and a series of numbers along with my service tag number. Could this have been caused by the recent Internet Explorer loophole and how is this repaired? Based on the research I have done so far, I understand its an internal password issue not affiliated with Microsoft.

This has nothing to do with the IE zero-day exploit -- you'll need to call Dell with verification of ownership to clear the BIOS password.

Thank you for the information. I am in the process of getting my laptop up and running again. I was disappointed at Dell support in that they could not specify why my laptop locked up and asked for a BIOS password. The laptop never leaves the house so there was no attempt to my knowledge of someone trying to hack into it. Can anyone help me narrow down the cause so I can avoid this situation in the future?
