I'd like also to install the Intel 7260HMW AC card, but that's got two antennas connector while the one installed on the laptop has got three connectors (black, grey and white): can you please advise?

Welcome to the Dell Community @hushcoden

You would use only the Black and White.

The Gray is for a special transmit/receive protocol.

What is the model number of the WiFi card you have installed???

BTW, no chances to find a 3x3 card like the one already installed? Only 2x2 for what I was able to search...

Hello,

it's an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (633ANHMW). So I will use only black and white wires, not a problem.

And what about Bluetooth? Should I disable the current one (I believe there is another card for Bluetooth) and using the one embedded in the 7260 card?

Would you please confirm which one of the two is the correct one:

@hushcoden

This is the correct one.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-AC-802-11abgn-802-11ac-2x2Wi-Fi-Bluetooth/dp/B00F84Q22I/ref=sr_1_4?crid=9MXUMKRKQSUL&dchild=1&keywords=7260hmw+ac&qid=1590415372&sprefix=7260hmw%2Caps%2C179&sr=8-4

Triple stream dual band wifi cards are not that common and will be difficult to find.

As far as Bluetooth:

If you use it often then you may want to test one at a time to see which one gives the best performance???

Ordered the card, it should be with me in a week time... I'm a bit confused about Bluetooth as once I've installed the card, system will have two Bluetooth cards, the current one and the one embedded in the Intel 7260, how do I manage both ?

Did this work for you? I ordered this card for my 6430 and it does not work correctly. I keeps dropping the connection. I tried different drivers but now I just put the old card back in. It won't stay connected long enough to work. The only Dell drivers I can find are for 32bit Win 10 so those don't work. I want an AC adapter but don't know which one will work in this laptop.

Yes, it worked for me.

I downloaded the drivers from here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/75439/intel-dual-band-wireless-ac-7260

Then I rebooted, I did a Windows update, rebooted again and job done !!

Thank you! I put the card back in the computer and I have been messing with it for another hour... still won't work. I have no idea and am just about done.. Anyone want an Intel 7260 AC adapter? I may throw it away soon if I don't find a solution.

Check the wires/connectors, only black and white, not the grey one...

It only has the white and black wires. I don't see any gray ones.

I tried this Intel AC 7260 card (7260HMW) to replace a wireless-N 7260 card on my E6430. The new card was detected by the machine but it did not work ("device fail to start"), despite installing the latest driver from Intel (Wifi_21.10.1_PROSet64_Win10.exe, 5/21/2019).

Welcome to the Dell Community @slim_thumb

There are multiple types of  Intel AC 7260.

The ones that seem to work are the generic and the ones with D P/N 0xxxxx

The one in your picture is for an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad.

FRU P/N 04X6010 is the Field Replacement Unit Part Number

HP have an SPS part number "Serial Peripheral System"

Not sure if it would work or not???

Best regards,

U2

Thanks for the tip U2CAMEB4ME. I thought all AC7260 cards are the same! I bought this from a local ad (kijiji). Maybe I'll try my luck again somewhere else eg. eBay.
