You could try a reset on the system. Disconnect the battery and unplug the adapter. Then press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect everything and try to boot again.
But considering the age of the system try this as well if the reset does not work. Disconnect the CMOS battery and leave it disconnected for 15 minutes (procedure here but do not remove it unless you are replacing). Then reconnect the battery (that will clear the BIOS). It may be that you will eventually have to replace the battery due to it's age. You can find that battery here. And a video here.
Hello JOcean , thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the proposed methods did not worked (including the one with the CMOS battery). The only time when the laptop starts is when I change the amount of RAM (for example: if I add 4 GB it starts only for the first time, then.. only black screen, and if I add another 4 gb or just a single one of 8 Gb then it starts only to show the message in the attached screen, also did there all the testing that can be made with no errors, for the second turning on.. only black screen). So after a change to the RAM , there's no more than the first start. Do you have any others ideas, or what can be the source of the problem ?
After disconnecting the BIOS/RTC battery and then connecting the AC adapter the laptop should turn on then off 3 times automatically before posting the Dell splash!!!
