How do I turn off touchpad?

How can I completely turn off the touchpad on an E6400? I only use a mouse, and the pad gets in my way on the keyboard..!

This link should help. You can also click on search and type in touchpad and you should be able to turn off the touchpad when a mouse is connected in the settings.

Well, thanks for replying with the link. Solutions there did not work tho... Fn plus any other pressed F# key does nothing. Also Ctrl Panel has no options at all to turn off a touchpad, and a Search also finds nothing for "touchpad". {-At least not in WinXP Pro software that came with this E6400 laptop...} So as it is now this E6400's keyboard is almost useless for me as far as any extended typing goes, as an accidental finger brushing of the touchpad drastically messes up writing!!

I find it hard to believe that Dell did not offer any hardware switches to turn off the touchpad, -for instance the way Toshiba laptops do......!!
