Only the seller can help here - it's a 9-year old computer, so anything could have happened.

Service tag is only useful for computers still under warranty. Just use the model name and number to access any Dell web site. Skip entering the service tag when asked on the dell download page.

Agree with MaryG. Completely pointless to worry about Service Tag with a used laptop that is no longer under warranty.

The reason I'm interested in the service tag is that I refurbish repair in build computers I have a Dell account with the listing of all my Dell computers, personal computers are on that list as well as a listing of all computers Ive perviously owned ,repaired ,built and upgraded . Since this Laptop is one I am keeping I just would like it on the list for my computers currently owned

You'll need to contact Dell.

I understand the whole warranty issue in it not obviously mattering but I also like to be in stay organized, I've gone through probably 300 Dell computers over the past 5 years and am typically in possession of at least 10 at one time so I like to keep my lists in order on the website and also like the things having a service tag offers you like the original specs of the computer the current specs of the computer the drivers and anything of the sort so I use for many different reasons . If anybody has any insight that would be very helpful Dell service service wrote me back to my original message asking for the service tag I also gave the express service code in the only information they gave me back in the response message to me giving them those numbers were that it was out of warranty which is obviously common sense due to the fact that I can see on the computer program Dell support assistant that information and couldn't provide me with any other help instead of giving me the answer on why there is an error when I attempt to search it in find a product or when I search it in support on dells website it does come up but when I attempt to add it to my product list it then comes a ghost computer so any help would be greatly appreciated. its frustrating and because of the never used new condition and specs i7 2820qm 3.3ghz 16gb ram 512gb ssd and nvidia 4200m graphics touchscreen mobile broadband and gps I plan to keep this computer permanently and definitely wanted on my product list since like I said it varies from10 computers up to 150 computers at one time but this will be my main computer I use for business purposes so I appreciate the responses about it not mattering um I understand it doesn't matter to some people about the service tag I just wanna know how come it is a ghost service tag and how I can get it repaired so I can enter it on my list and I don't need anymore responses regarding warranties that doesn't answer my question I appreciate everybody's help though thank you very much

And it's not necessarily 100% true about not eating service tag for anything but warranty for specific drivers with extensive extensive amount of options this computer came with that are very odd and not common to most laptops it's always best to have a service tag to have the actual drivers that the computer had offered to it exactly is far as I found I believe so

GHOST isnt supported by dell or microsoft and doesnt support windows 8 or 10.
Drivers for your model come as a single cab file that can be moved to the mydocuments folder and extracted with 7zip. There are no 10 drivers for this model but the 7 drivers work fine.

Absolutely no point whatsoever in needing a service tag.
Only Dell can make one because the SLP Bios key is tied to the service tag.
