Latitude 5521 i7-11850H memory upgrade problem help
Hello, we got some new 5521s (i7-11850H) at our company, and we cant get the RAM upgrade to work.
Factory RAM: Samsung 16GB 3200mhz 1.2v
Replacement RAM: Crucial Ballistix (2x16GB) 3200mhz 1.35v
https://eu.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g32c16s4b/ct20492624
According to the Cruical website, its compatible with Latitude 5521, but it wont boot with it, power LED blinks show memory error. (https://eu.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/latitude-15-(5521))
Memory Supported according to the 5521 manual:
Upgraded to the latest BIOS, and there are no configration options for the memory in the BIOS. (also tried to replace the RAM in Dell Service mode according to the service manual)
The replacement RAM works with our older Latitude 5420s (i5-1135g7) at 2667mhz, which has a SK hynix 8GB 3200mhz 1.2v factory memory.
Can someone help, if we can get this RAM working with 5521, or we need to buy a different RAM?

Welcome to the Dell Community @archersevon
Other than updating the BIOS as you have there is nothing more you can do.
Contact Crucial for refund or exchange.

I think I found it why it wont work. It is an XMP memory and the motherboard doesn't support XMP, as other people discussed in this thread: https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-15-9510-i7-11800H-RAM-upgrade-1-20V-vs-1-35V-Dual-Ranked-vs/m-p/7981625#M86900
Thank you!
