Mismatch display version and installed version for Intel I2xx/825xx Gigabit Ethernet Network Controller Drivers
There is mismatch in display version and installed version for Intel I2xx/825xx Gigabit Ethernet Network Controller Drivers, i.e. version shows on name of drivers or on Dell website is different than actual installed version on machine.
For Example, Driver name is Intel I2xx/825xx Gigabit Ethernet Network Controller Drivers,23.0.12.0.A06 but after installing this version shows on machine is 12.17.8.9
So please help to understand this behavior.

This is Intel's doing, not Dell. Intel maintains a Driver Family version numbering, which is the 20-something numbering you're seeing. But that driver family version number is assigned to an entire package that contains drivers for various individual NICs, and Intel maintains separate versioning for those individual NIC driver packages. They used to do this on their WiFi drivers as well, but recently I've seen that at least with newer WiFi chipsets, the family version is aligning with the individual WiFi chipset driver version shown in Device Manager.
Anyhow, it's normal and caused by Intel, not Dell.
