SupportAssist on Windows 10 causes repeated blue screen errors

Setting up Windows 10 Pro (version 1903) on a Latitude 5501. I usually use SupportAssist to install drivers, but about 5 minutes after I install it, Windows crashes (blue screen error "BAD_POOL_CALLER"). After it reboots, it runs for about 5 minutes then crashes again, same error. It repeatedly does this until I uninstall SupportAssist. 

I had a Latitude 5401 before that and same problem. I returned the laptop thinking it was faulty, but the replacement 5501 did the exact same thing and only then was I able to pinpoint SupportAssist as the problem. 

Anyone else run into this?
