Using laptop with dock with KVM switch with wireless keyboard and mouse - keyboard cuts out

I have a Dell Latitude 7420 laptop, connected to a Dell WD19 model K20A docking station.

The dock has 2 HDMI monitor cables and a USB cable connected to a StarTech HDMI dual display KVM switch.

This switch has 2 monitors, a wireless keyboard, and a wireless mouse (where each has its own dongle) connected to it, and the other computer connected to the switch is my personal desktop.

Everything works fine with my desktop.  But with the laptop, sometimes my keyboard randomly cuts out.  When that happens, I have to unplug the USB cable from the docking station for at least 10 seconds then plug it back in and it works again.  But sometimes that will start happening a lot, at which point I have to power-cycle the docking station to get it working again for a longer amount of time (but it does eventually start happening again).

This is a huge pain that definitely cuts into my productivity (this is my laptop for work).  I have tried manually doing things with drivers with no success.  I use Dell Command Update and Dell Optimization to make sure things are kept up to date and all that.  Why is this an issue and what can be done about it?

I have had this same issue, the keyboard will completely cut out, or it will take 5 or 6 key entries and then force repeat the last key you used. So basically you type and all the suddennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
