WD15 Docking Station Firmware

I've got about 1000 WD15 docking stations in my environment and I'm in the process of trying to update the firmware on them.   I''m deploying the firmware update with the /s switch and then giving a message to the users to reboot.

After rebooting and sitting through the upgrade screen, several users have come back saying they get a message along the lines of "multiple docking stations are not simultaneously supported. disconnect additional docking station"  Press F1, F2, F5 etc.

There is only one docking station connected, in at least one case the dock is connected only to power and network so no extra devices are connected either.

I'm trying to find the cause of this and if there is a way to avoid this message and not generate calls to our service desk.

Hi Alan,

I have several  Latitude 7280's That I am having this issue with. I cleared the logs in Bios, and installed Bios to the same version as it was current  and I am still receiving this message of multiple docking stations. Any additional info would be appreciated

Thanks,

@Sharpie_FinePoint thanks for getting in touch. It's strange that those steps have not resolved the issue for you.

Can you advise what models of docking station you are connecting to the system to?

Is it only one laptop you are having this problem with or is it multiple?

What version of the BIOS are you currently running?

Did you have the docking station connected to the system when you updated the BIOS?

How long have you been getting these error messages for?

Alan

I have same problem running XPS 15 9500 and WD15.

The issue disappears if I power off dock, power on and connect on the already powered on XPS, but in I boot the system it starts reporting that have multiple docks connected

Firmware already updated on XPS and dock

Same problema as the last comment, WD15 dock reports multiple docks connected when boot up with laptop, workaround is to boot up notebook first then connect dock.

XPS 15 9500 and WD15 using on last firmware, error persists for months across firmware versions.

Having the same issue, i went into de BIOS, "Load factory defaults" and now is ok and no more messages.

Trying to test if this issue have a link with Windows taking information from this multiple ID's and having some problems with the drivers and DS detection by the system.

Who knows.
