WiFi Antenna for 5420 Rugged

Question

I'm wondering if there is some sort of WiFi antenna that would utilizes a USB or serial port on this laptop to improve WiFi reception?

I haven't seen any plug-in antennas that would work with an internal WiFi adapter. But, you can get an external WiFi adapter that includes an antenna and connects to a USB port.

Thanks.  I considered that; but not knowing how my Company's privileges would handle it, I wasn't sure it would work.  Thinking about it, I have Administrator rights and add instrumentation all the time, so I should be able to.  I'll let you know.

@filbert  I had one of these at home (https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNCE2001/WNCE2001_DS_12Oct11.pdf?utm_source=pepperjam&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=159404&clickId=4139929792) ; but as I expected, I wasn't able to successfully introduce a new network adapter onto my work laptop.  I believe the Panasonic Toughbooks have the ability to add an external antenna, which is why I asked about my rugged Dell.

I'm currently experiencing the exact same thing. Thank you for sharing the solution, I will try to figure it out for more.
