Broadcom wireless driver not working after kernel 4.1 upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04
If this is a known issue, can you point me to workarounds, if not, I be happy to get any diagnostics that would help.
The Broadcom driver did simply not install with the new kernel.
Thanks.
Ronald

I'm told you may want to try https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu3/+build/7418309

Worked perfectly. Thanks!!
Whatever regression in the 4.0 kernel that broke the touchpad in multiple ways like 2-finger scrolling also seems to be fixed again.

Typing this after the laptop just woke up from sleep this morning. So seems to work fine for me. And had worked fine with the 3.19 kernel that comes with Ubuntu 15.04.
I had major issues with the 4.0 kernels on multiple fronts.
Having said that, I do feel it is a strange decision for Dell that if they are doing a Ubuntu-specific version of a laptop the choice would be to ship that with a Broadcom wireless chipset instead of an Intel one.

I am surprised this works. Does everything work fine after waking from sleep?
Every post I see on this forum says that the only way is to install the Intel wireless card. Why go do that trouble if doing the above works? Is the only reason that it doesn't work after waking from sleep?

Thanks for the update Ronald!
Ah it is unfortunate that there were problems with the 4.0 kernels. It seems like a couple steps forward and a couple back. Too bad.
