Dell precision 5520: linux on vm or dual-boot?

Hi,

I'm trying to decide if I'll install my linux dev environment on a win10 virtual machine, or dual-boot.
Here are my concerns:

• battery life
• nvidia optimus
• ubuntu 16.04: dell provides custom 16.04 image: need 18.04, or even better Linux mint 19.
• dock stations and multiple screen
  
  

I guess my criteria implies using a linux vm... but if someone has a great linux experience with the 5520, maybe I'll consider dual-boot.
