Update to 3.19.0-30 and can't unlock disk anymore

Hi all,

Tried to upgrade to 3.19.0-30 and I get a "huge" (as in resolution 1024x) screen prompting me to enter my decryption password. However, keyboard and mouse don't work in this screen anymore.

Only solution is to go back to 3.19.0-28. This is a brand new XPS 13 with Ubuntu 15.04.

I have the great displeasure to confirm this problem for my system as well.

It started with 3.19.0-29 for me.

Switching to a text console allows one to enter the passphrase, but fonts are tiny, even when switching back to graphic console later.

Have to boot via Advanced options and select .28.

Any known workarounds, solutions?

Adrian

I upgraded yesterday to 3.19.0-30 and have not had the problem you described. I am on 15.04 (I did a fresh install of it) also. There was a thread in this forum a week or two ago that discussed problems when updating the kernel. Might be worth checking out.

I'm also  seeing this, but it may be a much larger issue than just the  XPS 13, as I'm getting the same problem on my Thinkpad 450s.  Downgrading back to 3.19.0-15 works on both machines.

Whoa, seems like a bigger issue then and something with the kernel in general. Good to know. If it wouldn't be only 22 days until 15.10 I would upgrade to Kernel v4 but I don't think it's worth it :)

I can confirm this on my machine (it was quite inconvenient).

I would probably be good to copy any further information here:

The bug report you suggest is a duplicate of bugs.launchpad.net/.../1500751
