XPS 9360 charging led as sleep confirmation

One of the flaws of my 9360 is that you close the lid, os usually suspends but something might happen and you have no idea it's still full on, in the bag. An hour later you go fetch it  and it's hot like *** (true story).

I think the front led should flash something like 3 times when entering S3, as a confirmation (like raspberry pi flashes when shutting down).

As it is now I have to see through at 45 degrees under the right usb port to check if the led on the power button is still on. Shame.

I tried meddling with /dev and /sys to control the front led but no luck, I guess there is no support for that in the kernel...

You've got a great point there. The laptop is missing a power status led on the exterior.
The only led control I found so far was :

/sys/class/leds/dell::kbd_backlight/

that controls the keyboard brightness.
A solution that would work for me:
Front led is on whenever the laptop is on. White in case of enough juice, orange when almost empty.
When the front led is off, the laptop is really off.

During charging:
Perhaps the front led should blink, until fully charged.
But I rather have the battery indicator at the side display the battery and charging status.
My guess is that the side indicator only displays battery status, not charging.
