ACPI BIOS error on Ubuntu
Dell G15 5511
On starting my Ubuntu install, I get these ACPI Bios issue :
[ 1.075168] ACPI Error: Thread 2193514496 cannot release Mutex [ECMX] acquired by thread 2164973568 (20211217/exmutex-378)
[ 1.075176] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PC00.LPCB.ECDV._Q66 due to previous error (AE_AML_NOT_OWNER) (20211217/psparse-529)
[ 5.384414] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_TZ.ETMD], AE_NOT_FOUND (20211217/psargs-330)
[ 5.384455] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.IETM._OSC due to previous error (AE_NOT_FOUND) (20211217/psparse-529)
Is there a way to resolve this issue or a BIOS update from the Dell?

This page from the Acer community may help. Also a Google search for ACPI BIOS error on Ubuntu turns up a large number of suggestions. One common suggestion is to update to the latest BIOS.
There was a BIOS update posted 4 days ago on August 8th. That update can be found here.

I have the same issue with a Dell Inspiron 3880 Desktop. I updated the BIOS to version 1.14.0, did not help.

Did you find any workaround? I encounter the same issue with Vostro 5402, 1.16 latest bios

I'm running into the same issue with my dell precision 7750. I have the latest bios update. It's not something the linux kernel people can fix so it must be a bug in the bios.

Dell XPS 8940 purchased 02 Dec 2021.
Linux Mint 21.1 installed and operating without issue.
BIOS verified through BIOS info at startup is 2.11.1.
I would really prefer to see a fix from Dell.

Interesting "answer" for similar situations:

Just for context

I'm getting the same errors filling up my /var/log/kern.log file on a Dell Precision 7760 running Ubuntu 20.04 with the vmlinuz-5.15.0-88-generic kernel.

OptiPlex 3070 running Fedora 39 with Dell U2723QE monitor. Since upgrading today to 6.6.8-200.fc39.x86_64 kernel, journalctl has 100's of these ACPI Errors.

i may have found another setting in BIOS that might block the installation of distro with python scripts implemented
disable Intel© SGX™ Enabled
F2 -> Intel© Software Guard Extensions™ -> Intel© SGX™ Enabled -> Disabled
(i have only seen this option on DELL machine BIOS)
the ACPI error messages still shows up, but they are harmless and the distro installed no problem

I have an Inspiron 5515 and it has been doing it as well with no fix in sight. It definitely started after a bios update. I also have a mini pc also running an AMD Ryzen 7 and it has no issues or errors whatsoever. This is a Dell issue, most likely a software issue they're not willing to fix.
And considering this has been going on this long and Dell doesn't seem to want to acknowledge it this may be my last laptop with them.. I will pay more and go with a linux laptop from the start.
