Dell Mini 9 Factory Reinstall - Ubuntu 8.04.1
Not sure if anyone can help on this but here goes...
I want to restore the Factory version of Ubuntu that shipped originally with my Dell Mini 9. I hooked up an external DVD drive to the mini, loaded the ubuntu factory reinstall DVD, and kicked off the installation. After what seemed to be 30+ minutes, the installer said "Successful" and the system rebooted. After reboot i'm taken through the usual Dell support screens (displays service tag and what not), Ubuntu begins to load and then nothing. I've tried re-installing like 8 times and each time I get a different error after the Ubuntu loading screen. I assume i'm supposed to be taken through the setup process again (naming the mini, creating a user, etc.) but the system appears to crash immediately after the loading screen. I've searched through Dell's forums but have not found anything that could help.
I've also loaded the Ubuntu Mini OS on a usb key using unetbootin but I never make it to the installation process using that method. I know I could always download and use the official distributions from Ubuntu but I prefer Dell's version for the Mini...it comes pre-configured and saves me from modifying the system too much.
If anyone has any tips or suggestions i'm all ears...

I reloaded my Mini 9 with the factory DVD. It got to a point where it looked like it was done and I tried to reboot. It never came up. I tried the factory install again. This time I got to the same point, but waited longer. The compuer looked like it wasn't doing anything for almost a half hour, but eventually the installation finished. Now it boots just fine. I just had to be more patient.

Hey, thanks for all the replies. I seriously re-installed from the factory DVD about 20 times and each time a different error would occur. Usually the errors were related to the Gnome session not loading.
I ended up getting the issue resolved...sorry I don't have links to post but what here's what I ended up doing.
1. Was able to get a hold of Dell's Ubuntu Mini-OS .img file
2. Used usb-creator to copy the .img file to USB
3. Booted the mini from USB and successfully installed
