Desktop Effects on mini 9

Hi, I just got my inspiron mini 9 w/ Ubuntu yesterday. I have been setting it up and I would like to enable compiz. There is 1 problem. Under appearence, there is no desktop effects tab. Why is it gone? How would I enable desktop effects on this?

I would also like to try the compfiz desktop effects... but I wouldn't expect very good results.  With 3d racing games, including the one preinstalled and few more found in the add/remove programs, were only seeing 10-12 frames per second at best.  I'm kinda disapointed, a nice simple 3d racer would had been fun.
