Firstly edit your post and take out your service tag. That to my knowledge is a TOS violation, the moderator will delete your post otherwise.
Okay...
There's no need whatsoever to bother with obtaining a Ubuntu disk off Dell. A normal Ubuntu install will work perfectly. You'll should have zero problems as regards the wireless (Which is one of the most common issues)
Do you want to dual boot Vista and Ubuntu or get rid of Vista completely?

Welcome to the forums naruc. ;)
The installer will install all the necessary drivers itself.
The only driver you need is the nvidia driver (Assuming you have the 8400M GS?, if you've the integrated video it should work from the get go):
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_173.14.12.html
To simplify matters you can use the automated video driver installation envy to install if for you:
http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html
The only device I don't have working on my XPS M1530 is the fingerprint reader. But I disable that under Windows anyway.
The only one you'll into trouble with is if you have a Dell wireless card. What kind of wireless card have you btw?

Well you wouldn't want that to happen... ;)
I recently managed to convert my girlfriend completely to Ubuntu! :D
It took quite a bit of persuasion and in the end a virus and having to get me to re-install Vista is what swayed her.
Anyway, I think the following link will be of use to you:

Just download it from here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
Choose the desktop version and for simplicity's sake choose the latter option:
Standard personal computer (x86 architecture, Pentium™, Celeron™, Athlon™, Sempron™)
And don't worry about drivers. The disk comes with an enormous amount of drivers already included. The only one you'll have to worry about is the nVidia driver, for that I'd recommend using Envy once again for simplicity's sake... ;)

Are you using Ubuntu or Vista?
Both XP and Ubuntu work fine for both WPA and WPA2 for me FYI.
