How to uninstall Ubuntu and install Windows 7

How to uninstall Ubuntu and install Windows 7:

I bought a new Dell Vostro 2420 and it came pre-loaded with Ubuntu operating system.

I want to delete the Ubuntu system and install Windows 7 Office Home And Student. I have the windows key.

Can someone please help explain what I need to do being as specific as possible as I am not very computer savy? I've read some internet instructions about hitting F12 or F2 or Esc at startup and change the startup order from harddrive to cd etc and then add the Windows disc to load but it did not work. What do I need to do?

Hi Jamied93,

You will require a retail version disk with product key or a Dell Windows 7 OEM disk to install it on your computer. Office Home and Student is a productivity software and contains applications such as Microsft word, excel etc. It can be installed once Windows 7 is installed on the computer. Please click on the link for Windows 7 installation http://dell.to/Qe7jyP

Note: We would advise you to take a complete backup of your data (pictures, music, videos, and documents) as this step leads to complete data loss.

Please reply if you have any questions.

I appreciate your help on this. One question for you though. I have looked through the information in the link you provided me and although I understand the emphasis placed on doing a backup.....is this something that I really need to do considering it is a brand new computer and I have not saved ANYTHING on it knowing I would be installing windows 7. ?

Hi Jamied93,

Thank you for the response. If you have not saved any information on your computer, then there is no need to do a backup. We always advise you to keep your data backed up. Hard drives are unpredictable and have the potential to fail at any time, with the data they contain within often not retrievable.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions.
