Linux for inspiron 1440
I have a new inspiron 1440 and i tried to install ubuntu version 9.04. its fine with the basic utilities but the music player and CD drive dont work.
can any body fix it or suggest any other versionof Linux compatible with this system???

Does any sound output work? I see a lot of people having problems with the sound card in this model. One fix is suggested here:

A new version of Ubuntu (9.10) will be out in 9 days that might have a fix for your problems built in. If you want to play with it more, you can try the beta of 9.10 which can be found here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/
