Ubuntu and Kubuntu, Ubuntu with different desktop flavors and there Forums.

Hi I have been an Ubuntu user for about 4 years now and have tried both Ubuntu which uses the Gnome Desktop and have tried Kubuntu that uses the KDE desktop. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I have been using the Gnome destop as of late as I like the cleaness of it but KDE has some advantages as being more theme customizable.

I just bought a XPS 1530 with the 1280x800 res and tried both the Ubuntu and Kubuntu live CD's on it and found that the KDE desktop just seems better as more tweekable than the Gnome. Gnome just seemed to big for my liking but was similar to the default Vista in size and feel. KDE can be made more compact for desktop realstate.

Now the really nice thing about Ubuntu is its community support forum which is totally amazing. You can post a problem and have a reply within min or hourse compared to other forums that may take days. This helps in making Ubuntu a easier to learn and there for use distro.

Here are the links to both the Ubuntu and Kubuntu foums: You might want to check them out. The community caffee section is a good start
