Warranty question.

Hi all!

Yesterday I ordered an XPS M1330 (with Vista).  Will installing a Linux distro have any effect on my warranty (bold)?  2 reps in sales said no before I made the purchase and 1 in tech support said yes after I made the purchase.  I searched the web for answers, but I have seen anywhere from absolutely to definitely not!  How far can I go without voiding my warranty? I want to be covered if my LED screen stops working, or the CD bay fails... etc.

Level 1:

Resize Windows partition, format backup partition into Swap and large FAT32 share partition, install 64-bit Ubuntu.

Level 2:

Delete restore partition followed by Level 1

Level 3:

Completely reformat drive to run Vista in a VM in Ubuntu 64 bit.

Level 4:

Get a $50 refund for the  M$ Tax and go completely Open.

Here are the purchase details.  The bold items are what I think might cause problems with reformatting.

DeathsOverture, Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum. It will not void you hardware warranty but will void your software warranty. If you do have issues with hardware on the system you will have to put the original OS back on the system before Dell will troubleshoot with you and replace any defective hardware if needed.

Thank you Jesse, that is exactly what I wanted to hear.  I didn't expect Dell to support a different operating system, I was just worried about my hardware warranty.

If I dual-boot with Vista and Ubuntu, will Dell service my computer?  This seems to be the most practical solution in my mind.
