hey toro,
i saw your post and i think i can  help.
if the Linsipre os disc you burned/bought seems fine, and BEGINS TO LOAD  (when booting from cd),
then your system crashes or hangs forever, its ok.

the Linspire OS really really likes Fat32 partitions as root and "must" be installed on a fat32 partition itself.  My friend re-burned the iso 5 times before realizing this. Anyway, try making a empty FAT32 primary partition, then booting from the cd; if that doesn't work, u may have to make the root partition fat32.

look around this site for better help http://forum.linspire.com/viewtopic.php?t=427428

In my opinion, the Linspire/Lindows distro. is not very practical for dual-booting with XP(or any NTFS OS).   A good alterantive to Linspire  would be Xandros.

i hope helped,
