Intel graphics cards usually have less 3D hardware support compared to ATI and NVidia, so don't expect too much. Look at the X server log file, probably "/var/log/Xorg.0.log". See if it has any warnings about 3D support, or other errors.

There is a link to Intel's driver pages, where you can check which Intel driver is needed for your card. If it is a new card, maybe the next X update will fix it for you.
