I wish I had an answer. I am adding my problem only to show support for yours (and mine) so maybe there will be a usable answer.
My son bought me the Dell Venue 11 Pro with the cover and stylus. The first time I opened and touched the screen, the stylus worked, but the next time, the battery appeared dead. I bought a pack of AAAA batteries which took a half tank of gas to find, and the stylus worked. Except that the toggle switch doesn't seem to do what I thought, and I guess I am not sure how to shut it 'off' to conserve battery life...It didn't seem to come with an instruction book--only something to tell me its wonderful features.
I finally figured out the tip and don't find that it does what it is supposed to consistently.
I have Dell products whenever I can--my primary computer (a very old XPS M1530 that still works like a charm), and now a new Tablet. I want to utilize the features, but I am not an Android/MS person so I am having a dreadful time figuring it out---but the stylus has been a disappointment.
If it is going to have a short battery life forever, I am going to the Radio Shacks before they close and buy all they have of the AAAAs! And just use it when the print is too small to touch the commands!
The stylus should wake itself up when it sees the screen (get it within an inch or a little less) and will stay awake for 60 seconds without further activity. Pressing the buttons would also wake it up. If you have the new silver/black stylus and it isn't working, you might try removing the battery and then reinserting it or you might verify that the tip is seated properly. If you are still having problems with a known good battery, contact support to get a replacement as something is wrong with it.
The stylus should work until the battery is down to ~1.1V.
Do the tips on these stylus pens wear out? I've had mine for about 3 weeks and it's operation is very intermittent. I got the Dell stylus from a vendor on Amazon.com but when I called Dell, they were not very helpful. I put in a new battery and still tough to get reliable operation. Since it's a Dell product, the box says it has a 1 year warranty, yet nobody at Dell can help me with it, although it's their product. Not sure if my pen is defective or if the tip is damaged somehow.
When I open my pen up, it has a model # of: PR77S. Subtel: 88.307. Hopefully that info will help tell you what stylus I have. The box is a Dell white box and says Venue Active Stylus on the front for Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro.
Dell seems to have been downright antagonistic when it comes to recognizing the warranty on Dell products, when those products were purchased from an authorized third party (e.g. Amazon, Microsoft) and not Dell. In the end, the warranty is the warranty and the third-party seller does not matter.
I can vouch for this, I had the old A02 and got the new A03...look for those versions. And you can get a new one, they will honor the warranty, you just have to keep after them. And once you get it, do not discard the old one, you can switch out the barrels of the pen, I ran over my new one and crushed the front of it, and put the old one together and it's a miracle, but it works great.
While talking to my 19th Dell support person, he said there's nothing that Dell can do because I didn't buy the Dell product from Dell and then he hung up on me. I am very *** off!
This is getting really annoying.. I've been on the phone with Dell for about 5 hours and approx. 17 people. They keep transferring me to someone new. Each time I have to tell them that I am calling about a Dell Venue Active Stylus and I don't have a Dell computer. They spend 3 mins each time telling me I need an order number or Dell express service code, which of course I don't have since I ordered the Dell stylus through a Dell vendor on Amazon.com. Amazon says I have to get support from Dell as it's their product.
From my experience, I am guessing that Dell doesn't actually support their products since nobody at their technical support can handle support for their own Stylus products... all I keep getting is told I am talking to the wrong dept. and that I will be transferred to someone else.. now on my 17th technician. Each tech keeps telling me "you've called laptop tech support.. you need to talk to someone else". I just got transferred to my 18th person.. he now says "we're going through a software upgrade and can't take your call right now". Wow.. guess I wasted my time.
Can anyone at Dell actually contact me to resolve this issue ASAP please??
Absent Dell having snuck some unique language into the warranty of the sort that no one typically has used in the past, the authorized seller of the product is irrelevant and Dell is in breach of the warranty. Under that rep.'s position, no Dell computer purchased at Best Buy, at The Microsoft Store, at Fry's Electronics, etc. is covered by the Dell warranty.
I am trying to find a REV03 stylus but the vendors don't know what that mean, but keep asking me for the ASIN code for that one. Anyone know what a ASIN code is and what it is for the REV03 stylus? How do the REV00, 02, and 03 Dell active styluses vary? Is one better than another when used with the HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 laptop??
Is this Dell Active Stylus product page from Amazon.com helpful for you? Note that it includes the ASIN number, and customer comments discuss HP Spectre x360 compatibility.
Does the Dell active stylus REV03 have the ASIN of B00Q9CQ7OQ Dell model# 750-AAGN mean it is a REV03 stylus? I don't know the correlation b/w the ASIN numbers, the Dell model numbers, and the REV #s.
I am looking to get an active stylus. The model available in the Australian Dell store is 750-AAIO. Does anyone know if there are any differences when compared to the 750-AAGN? Is this a newer revision?

The stylus version I linked to at Amazon.com is the most recent version of the Dell active stylus for the Dell Venue 8 Pro. It easily can be told, as it has a half black, half silver body. I simply would focus on that or the model number rather than going by a revision number, which can be confusing.
I've the Dell Venue 8 Pro and purchased the Dell active Stylus, model 750-AAGN but the model number on the pen says PR77S. Here are my suggestions
When the stylus is not in use, unscrew the battery compartment, or top half of the stylus from tip, or bottom half of the stylus.
If the stylus does not respond, clean the battery terminals with an eraser. Clean the positive battery contact located on the bottom half of the sylus with a clean pencil eraser and press the positive battery contact against the positive stylus contact to make sure a good connection is made. (The positive stylus contact tends to get a coating which seems to prevent energy flow.)
If this become to much work/trouble, try one of the other third party stylus. The Joy Factory BCU204 Pinpoint Stylus E1 is working well, though the stylus is new. The big advantage is the Joy Factory pen has an on/off switch to conserve power.
(The E1 is primary used as a mouse but paint seems to work fine with the stylus.)
Be sure to contact the manufacturer and either get a promise to be able to return the item should it not work, or see if they know you computer already has been tested, compatibility charts or ask them. From reading the various postings, there are different touch screen technologies and a stylus that works on one computer might not work on another.
Dell usually makes good products but the Dell active Stylus model 750-AAGN / PR77S does meet the usual Dell Standard.
