HiLine,

Do you mean the SP1908FP? Here are the 1907FPv specifications.

Are there any reviews at all regarding the sp1908fp? I'm looking at purchasing one but am hesitant due to the fact that no one else seems to be reviewing it. Also, I'm worried about the glossy look of the True life screen. I'd only be using it for text and browsing so I'm concerned about the glare. Thanks for any input.

No, I mean the 1908FP. http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&kc=&oc=1908FP But now that I have realized there is the SP1908FP, I am even more confused. By the way, the 1907FPv is quite different from the 1907FP but I do not find the SP1908FP so much different judging from the statistics. Is the SP1908FP necessarily better than its predecessors ? I haven't found any reviews about it online. Message Edited by HiLine on 04-23-2007 10:01 AM

Try the following link which is a Canadian site:

Thank you ford70. I really appreciate your help. It seems the 1908FP is available in Canada only. Could anyone please explain that to me ? I still wonder, what's the reason for the expensiveness of the 1908FP compared with the SP1908FP ? $70 is quite a lot for the height adjustable stand.

The 1908FP is a VGA only monitor ie. only analog whereas the SP1908FP and Ultrasharp are  both analog and digital ie. accept both VGA and DVI inputs as well as HDCP. Also, the Ultrasharp 1908FP is available but you have to look under "Small and Medium Size Business" . It has additional adjustability ie. height, swivel etc but no glossy screen which the SP1908FP has. So, all 3 monitors are available in both countries but you have to look under home vs business. Also, you pay more for the SP and Ultrasharp models because they have more features. But if you don't do a lot of gaming or have  a good video card then don't spend too much money.

Thanks. But the 1908FP actually costs much more than the SP1908FP. The height adjustable stand aside, how come is that possible ?

Sorry, I meant the SE197FP is the cheapest (in other countries it's also known as the 1908FP). The Ultrasharp 1908FP that is more expensive just has the greater adjustability as far as I know. I don't think it uses a better panel. Also, it lacks the Truelife if you're not a fan of glossy screens. A lot of LCD's are coming down in price so don't sweat it too much. You could call Dell and ask if someone could tell you if there is a big difference in the 2 you are considering. Good luck!

Thank you ford70. It's strange that 2 almost identical models have so big a difference in price. I will contact Dell to inquire about this discrepancy and post the result on this thread.
