Analog

   I think what you are seeing is as good as it gets via analog. I tried my 2001FP on my Radeon 9700 PRO via analog as well as DVI @1600 x1200 . The difference in the 2 outputs was sharpness. The analog was less sharp and almost blurry by comparison to the DVI. Needless to say I only output DVI now. IMHO the analog connection on the 2001FP was only put there for legacy. All the time and development went in to making the DVI connection look the best.  

Check refresh rate setting in display properties. Make sure it's 60Hz and run an auto adjust on your 2001FP. Does if make a difference?
