2007WFP - constantly defaults to wrong color format

I have just got this monitor (Revision 02) but am having one major problem.

I have a laptop connected via VGA. All fine.
I have a dvd player connected via HDMI->DVI-D cable (player outputting HDMI).

When I go to the HDMI input on the monitor the DVD image on screen is all purple/green. If I go to the on-screen menus "Color Settings" and change "Color Format" from "HD YPbPr" to "PC RGB" the DVD image is fine - all good. BUT when I then press input select and switch to VGA, when I come back to HDMI the color format has gone back to "HD YPbPr" and the image is once again green/purple.

Am I doing anything stupid? It looks like the monitor settings for colour format are just not being saved? Not seen anyone else with a problem like this on the forums/net. The DVD player (Toshiba SD-360E) does not seem to have any colour output options and it does not seem to matter which HDMI mode the player is outputting (although 1080 is not supported by the monitor at all).

Any help appreciated!

I've read somewhere that these monitors do not save ("some" setting, so color I take it) between mode changes.

Make sure they know that you consider it a defect, otherwise you'll have to pay for shipping (as I understand the "Return" policy)

Well, I spent a pointless 30 minutes talking to some fool in Dell technical support who insisted that the problem was becuase the "settings are saved on the computer" and because I didn't have a dell PC connected to it it would not save the settings!!! It was obvious they did not have a clue so I asked to return it so they then proceeded to try and transfer me to customer care but actually just cut me off!

Anyway, it will be returned as it looks like yet another defect on this monitor. Its a real shame becuase other than that issue I was really happy with it.

Just an update - I eventually got a replacement monitor and surprise surprise - its exactly the same as the old one. So I now consider this defect to be a feature of all A02 revision firmware rather than a problem with my specific monitor.

So the replacement is going back now, as otherwise whenever I want to use it (or switch input modes) I have to navigate the OSD as follows:
- Press "Menu" button
- Press "+" button repeatedly to go to "Color Settings"
- Press "Menu" button
- Press "+" button repeatedly to go to "Colour Format"
- Press "Menu" button
- Press "+" button to switch to "PC RGB"
- Press "Menu" button

Hmmm, really user-friendly...
