2100FP LCD Monitor help

I just replaced my old 2100FP with a new 2407WFP. I moved the 2100FP to my wifes pc and was trying to change some of the brightness and other settings on it. But I'm having problems. When I press the menu button it brings up the menu, but I can't access any of the shown functions. Neither can I move up or down to select any functions...it just stays on EXIT. The only thing that works is pressing the menu button again and then it just exits out.

I was going to try and contact Dell Tech Support, but it just keeps asking for some Service Tag. I've looked on my monitor and nothing resembles the type number they so on their web site, so thus, I can't go any further.

Anyone have any clues what might be up with my 2100FP or how I can contact Dell without this service tag? Did they even have those back then?

If the monitor was purchased with a computer, you use the service tag from the computer, otherwise you use the order number.

Try powering off computer and monitor. Then unplug and reconnect monitor power cable, power on monitor then restart computer. It may help to uninstall the previous monitor in Device Manager. Ensure the correct input is selected on the monitor.

Thanks for the response. The monitor was purchased by itself...I build my own computers. I bought this monitor 3 years ago...I highly doubt I could find my order number now.

Also, since the controls for the monitor are hardware buttons built into the front of the monitor, I don't understand what uninstalling the monitor from Device Manager in Windows will do either. These controls should work independent of a pc connection.

But again, thanks for the suggestions. I will try them and see if they work.

I was thinking the monitor might disable the controls if it does not detect a valid input - worth eliminating the possibility.

Oh ok, I wasn't thinking along those lines. Thanks for the tip...I will give it a try and see.
